THE GENERAL DATA

Positions of the lever of the selector

 While translating the selector lever in following positions: Р R, R N, N 4, 3 2, 1 it is necessary to press the button (1) on the selector lever.

Р – lay blocking,
R – a reverse gear,
N – a neutral position (an idling position),
D – automatic switching of four transfers,
3 – automatic switching of first three transfers,
2 – automatic switching of first two transfers,
1 – movement only on the first transfer

KICK-DOWN

The device of compulsory anticipatory switching on lower transfer, or KICK-DOWN, provides maximum on the given traffic conditions car acceleration. As soon as pressure upon an accelerator pedal will exceed certain threshold value, depending on frequency of rotation of the engine and speed of movement there is a switching on one of lower transfers. Return switching on the nearest higher transfer will follow only when as much as possible admissible value of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft will be reached.

Keep in mind that on slippery road driving wheels at compulsory anticipatory switching on lower transfer can start to revolve.
